About The Law Office of D. Clay Taylor
As an attorney, I wear many hats, but I describe myself as a trial lawyer. This has been my livelihood for over 30 years, and I still love the work. A full-fledged civil trial is rare these days, but courtroom proceedings are just the tip of the iceberg in a successful litigation practice. Cases are won or lost behind the scenes in the research, motions and depositions. At The Law Office of D. Clay Taylor, I pride myself on high-energy, high-quality legal legwork to put my firm’s clients in position for a victory at trial or favorable negotiations.
Based in Edina, Minnesota, The Law Office of D. Clay Taylor represents individuals and businesses statewide and nationwide. I built a reputation as “The Rep Lawyer” for my advocacy on behalf of commissioned sales representatives. As that industry evolved, my practice branched out into other areas of civil litigation, namely probate and estate disputes and a wide spectrum of business litigation.

Finally, I will be there for your family and loved ones when the time comes to administer that estate.
In The Words Of My Clients
The video below is geared toward my practice in sales representative law, but the client testimonials hold true for the way my staff and I approach business disputes, probate litigation or any legal conflict. I am immensely proud of the work we do for clients. No half measures. No wishy-washy promises. My legal team gets after it promptly and does a thorough job.
A Life In The Law
Practicing law since 1989, I am a big firm refugee who started my solo practice over 20 years ago. I am rated AV Preeminent* through Martindale-Hubbell and have been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers (1999-2006). I was admitted to practice in all state and federal courts of Minnesota, as well as many U.S. District Court jurisdictions across the country and the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. I served many years on the Minnesota State Bar’s Civil Litigation Governing Council. In 2010-11, I was appointed to a task force of the Minnesota State Supreme Court that implemented the very successful Expedited Litigation Track for civil suits under $100,000.
Education and mentoring are a common thread in my career. I have taught trial advocacy since 2008 at Mitchell Hamline School of Law (formerly William Mitchell) and presented many seminars through NITA (National Institute for Trial Advocacy). I have also delivered countless presentations to sales rep groups on their legal rights and remedies.
